Gutter Cleaning and Maintenance

Keeping your gutters clean is an essential part of roof maintenance. Blocked or overflowing gutters can lead to water pooling around the roofline, damaging fascia boards, causing leaks, and even affecting the structure of your home. In some cases, it can also lead to internal water damage and mould.

We recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year, ideally before and after the storm season. If your home is surrounded by trees, it’s best to check and clean them every three months to prevent the build-up of leaves and debris.

Regular gutter maintenance helps water flow properly away from your roof and foundation, reducing the risk of costly repairs and keeping your property safe.

Roof Screws & Re-screwing

Roof screws may be small, but they do a big job. Keeping your metal roof secure and watertight. If your screws start rusting, they can transform onto the roof sheets, which can be followed by a full roof replacement. In coastal areas, the salty air speeds up corrosion.

We recommend checking your roof screws once a year, and especially after wild weather. Loose or rusty screws can lead to roof movement, leaks, and bigger issues if left too long.

If you’re near the beach, this is even more important, the salty air can corroded at screws faster, reducing their lifespan and the strength of your roof fixings.

Spotting rust, loose screws, or cracked seals? It might be time to re-screw your roof and give it the support it needs to last.

Roof Insulation

When replacing your roof, it’s the perfect time to consider adding insulation underneath.

Insulation acts like a protective barrier, helping to keep your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter, which can reduce your energy bills and make your home more comfortable all year round.

It also provides added protection against moisture, dust, and wind, and can improve the overall performance and lifespan of your new roof.

If you’re getting a new roof, we highly recommend discussing insulation options with us. It’s a smart long-term investment that adds real value to your home.

Clear Downpipes for a Healthy Roof

Just like your gutters, downpipes need to be free from leaves and debris to do their job properly. If they’re blocked, water can back up into the gutters, overflow onto walls, or even leak into the roof cavity.

Regular checks, especially after storms or during autumn, help ensure rainwater flows away from your home efficiently. Keeping your downpipes clear protects your roof, walls, and foundation from water damage.

Whirlybirds: Small Spinners, Big Impact

Whirlybirds are a simple and effective way to ventilate your roof space. They help remove hot air and reduce moisture build-up, especially in Queensland.

It’s a good idea to have a quick look now and then to check if yours is spinning. If not, it might need replacement. A functioning whirlybird supports better insulation and overall comfort.
